Verkada Pricing 2026: How Camera and License Costs Work

How does Verkada pricing work? Verkada pricing generally combines an upfront camera purchase with recurring software licensing. The total depends on camera model, license term, retention and analytics requirements, integrations, installation, and site count; request a current quote rather than relying on a fixed web price.

How Verkada Pricing Works

Verkada uses a hardware + software license pricing model. You purchase cameras upfront and pay a per-camera license (1-, 3-, 5-, or 10-year terms) that includes the Command cloud platform, software updates, and storage on the camera itself. There are no separate NVR servers, storage arrays, or VMS licenses to buy — everything is included in the camera and license cost.

This is fundamentally different from traditional camera systems where you buy cameras, NVR hardware, VMS software licenses, and storage separately — then pay for maintenance contracts on each component.

Verkada Camera Hardware Costs

Verkada offers several camera families, each designed for specific use cases. Pricing varies by model, resolution, and capabilities:

Indoor Cameras

  • CM41 Mini Dome — Entry-level indoor camera. Compact form factor ideal for offices, retail, and classrooms. Typically the most affordable entry point into the Verkada line.

  • CD42 Indoor Dome — Mid-range indoor camera with wider field of view and enhanced AI processing. Suitable for larger spaces like warehouses, lobbies, and open offices.

  • CD62 Advanced Indoor — Premium indoor camera with 4K resolution, enhanced low-light performance, and extended onboard storage.

Outdoor Cameras

  • CB52 Bullet — Weather-rated outdoor camera with IR illumination for 24/7 coverage. Common choice for parking lots, building perimeters, and loading docks.

  • CB62 Advanced Outdoor — Premium outdoor camera with 4K resolution, extended range IR, and enhanced AI processing for large outdoor areas.

Specialty Cameras

  • CM61 Mini Camera — Ultra-compact form factor for discreet installations in retail, hospitality, and healthcare.

  • Fisheye Cameras — 360-degree coverage for large open areas like warehouse floors and retail showrooms.

  • Multi-Sensor Cameras — Multiple lenses in a single housing for panoramic coverage at building corners and intersections.

Important note on pricing: Every site is different. Camera model, volume, license term, and site scope all move the final number, so we put together a clear quote for you rather than publishing a fixed price. Software License Tiers

Every Verkada camera requires an active software license. Licenses come in 1-, 3-, 5-, and 10-year terms. Longer terms generally cost less per year.

1-Year License

The most flexible option and the highest per-year cost. Best for pilot deployments or organizations that want to evaluate the platform before committing to a longer term.

3-Year License

The shortest term that reaches a lower per-year rate.

5-Year License

A balance of cost and commitment length for many deployments.

10-Year License

The lowest per-year cost. Ideal for organizations making a long-term infrastructure investment. Common in new construction, school districts, and large enterprise deployments where cameras will remain in place for a decade or more.

All license tiers include:

  • Video storage on the camera itself. Storage and retention options depend on the camera and license, and optional cloud backup is available. We’ll size it with you.

  • Verkada Command platform access

  • AI analytics (people detection, vehicle detection, motion search)

  • Automatic firmware updates

  • Unlimited users and mobile app access

  • Phone and email support

Total Cost of Ownership: Verkada vs. Traditional Systems

When comparing Verkada to traditional NVR-based camera systems, the total cost of ownership (TCO) often favors Verkada over a 5-10 year horizon, despite higher upfront camera costs. Here is why:

What Traditional Systems Require

  • Cameras — per-model pricing, like any camera line; the recorder stack below is what separates the two builds

  • NVR servers — recorder hardware, with enterprise storage servers running far higher

  • VMS software licenses — typically charged per channel

  • Storage drives — bought with the recorder or added after it, and replaced every 3–5 years

  • UPS battery backup — one per server closet

  • IT labor — Server maintenance, firmware updates, drive replacements, troubleshooting

  • Maintenance contracts — Annual fees for NVR hardware and VMS software support

What Verkada Eliminates

  • No NVR servers to purchase, rack, power, or cool

  • No storage drives to monitor and replace

  • No VMS software to license, update, and troubleshoot

  • No on-site server maintenance visits

  • No manual firmware updates — cameras update automatically

On a typical site, that stack — recorder, VMS licensing, drives, UPS — is exactly what the Verkada camera license replaces: the license covers the Command platform, software updates, and on-camera storage, with no recorder to buy, rack, or replace. A failed drive stops being a line item.

Verkada vs. Lumana: Cost Comparison

For businesses evaluating cloud camera platforms, the cost comparison between Verkada and Lumana depends primarily on whether you have existing cameras:

If you have existing IP cameras: Lumana is typically more cost-effective because you keep your current cameras and add the Lumana Bridge appliance plus a per-camera license. You avoid the hardware cost of replacing functional cameras.

If you are deploying new cameras: Verkada is often more cost-effective because the camera price includes onboard storage and AI processing — there is no separate NVR or appliance to buy. The total component count is lower.

Mixed environments: Many HTS customers deploy both platforms — Lumana at existing sites with good cameras and Verkada at new locations. This hybrid approach minimizes total spend while standardizing on cloud-managed platforms everywhere.
